"They are dissolving the mail." POST complaints about shrinking ELTA (video)
16/12/2016

The president of the Panhellenic Federation of Postal Associations George Vassilopoulos denounces the decline of public mail and ELTA.

"The refusal of the state to meet its requirements for the provision of Universal Service risks creating the very existence of the Post Office," noted the president of POST, citing the negative effects / negligence by the loss of major competitions (EYDAP, passports police, etc.)

INTERVENTION OF THE UNIONS OF ATTIKI IN HELLENIC POST OFFICE ADMINISTRATION PROCEDURES
12/5/2016

Colleagues,
There have been various threats and attempts to penalize unionism.
There have been express secondments to the islands due to the hiring freeze and the persistence of certain officials to refuse renewal of employment contracts for office positions, which have led to the devaluation of our Network and the services we offer to the citizens in the most sensitive areas of our country.
There has been a circular by the Personnel Manager, which threatens to transfer our colleagues who have not completed the educational “course” to non-digitized branches or distribution positions.
PRESS RELEASE – THEY WENT FOR THE HIGHER PRICE: WHY?
12/5/2016

While the new Hellenic Post Office administration is concerned with securing positions for its affiliates, ignoring the organization's pressing problems, the Athens Water Supply and Sewerage Company (EYDAP S.A.) is considering entering a contract regarding the distribution of its bills with a rival private company, agreeing to pay a higher price.
The Hellenic Post Office, which has the biggest network in Greece, from Ormenio to the island of Gavdos, despite its offering lower prices, was rejected from the tender.
In all those years that the Hellenic Post Office has been offering its services to the public utility EYDAP and its consumers, certain backroom networks were aiming to influence decision-making procedures. Today, ALL THESE PEOPLE believe that they can “usurp” this contract from the Hellenic Post Office and cause the oldest public corporation to be devalued.
WE SAY NO TO PSEUDO-DEBATES
4/5/2016

Colleagues,
We all know that the problems that the Hellenic Post Office and its employees are facing are of such intensity, that there is no room for complacence nor for experimentation, rash actions, setbacks – and much less for practices reminiscent of past political parties tactics, which have been condemned by the entire Hellenic Post Office workforce.
The Hellenic Post Office Administration, in these times so crucial for the future of the Organization, instead of dealing with its very serious problems, chose to waste time and energy on issues that disrupt its operation and disappoint its employees.
In the middle of the Easter period and during meetings reminiscent of conventicles, disregarding institutional procedures, the Administration made totally irrational decisions regarding interventions in the Hellenic Post Office's operation and personnel issues. Said decisions brought only negative reactions ever since their announcement.
COMMEMORATIVE CELEBRATION – 14 APRIL 1942: THE FIRST STRIKE IN EUROPE UNDER GERMAN RULE
14/4/2016

74 years after the great strike of April 14th 1942, the Hellenic Post honored, like every year, the “Triatatikoi” fighters, whose brave resistance against fascism set an example to the enslaved nations of Europe and gave them hope.

April 14th 1942 was the date of the first major strike in Europe which was under German rule. The “Triatatikoi” strikers were in the streets for seven days and seven nights, defying death and achieving a great victory, the victory of freedom, which “will be remembered in the years to come...”.

The celebration took place on Thursday 14 April at Kotzia square, in front of the central Post Office, which was the starting point of the strike.
PRESIDENTS' MEETING – 26 & 27 FEBRUARY 2016
1/3/2016

The Meeting of the Presidents of all our member Unions in the country took place on February 26th and 27th and was very successful. Participation in the Meeting was broader this time, including as participants the Presidents and Secretary Generals of the Unions, the Presidents and Secretaries of Regional Branches as well as other representatives from all the Unions all over Greece.

With the central slogan:
“WE DO NOT REMAIN MERE SPECTATORS
WE INTERVENE IN THE DEVELOPMENTS
WE MOULD THE FUTURE OF THE HELLENIC POST OFFICE”
all issues and problems that concern our Organization were thoroughly discussed and various propositions on the future of the Hellenic Post were expressed, with the aim to:
• promote the development of the Organization
• secure its viability
• enable it to keep on offering employment
• support it so as to continue its contribution to society

“TALES FROM THE POST” - A BOOK ON THE POST OFFICE AND ITS PEOPLE
24/12/2014

A presentation of the book “Tales from the Post” took place on Tuesday 23 December 2014, at the central Post Office of Athens. The event was widely attended and exceptionally successful.

The book is a collection of short stories written by 15 of the best contemporary Greek authors:

Costas Akrivos, Maro Vamvounaki, Vassilis Vassilikos, Manos Kontoleon, Thomas Korovinis, Auguste Corteau, Amanda Michalopoulou, Thodoris Papatheodorou, Eleni Priovolou, George Skambardonis, Maria Skiadaresi, Thanassis Skroubelos and Christos Chomenidis.

The book was published by the Hellenic Post and it includes an introduction by Stefanos Dandalos.

The common source of inspiration for the above great litterateurs was the Postman and the letters distributed by the Post Office professionals throughout hundreds of years, as postal services never ceased being used by people as a means of communication, despite the significant technological advances of modern times.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH...
12/11/2014

Dear Colleagues,

We denounce the unprovoked attack against people, institutions as well as the Organization itself by certain individuals who choose to hide behind aliases while seeking to create an environment of suspicion and mistrust by employing underworld methods and using “masked men” as their instruments.

We are referring to one specific e-mail from an unknown sender who uses the alias “ZENO THE POSTMAN”, which was sent massively on November 12th 2014 to the Post Office employees' work e-mail accounts and which mentions by name various colleagues of ours, candidates for Managerial positions, “selecting” them for special posts of great responsibility and “linking” them to political parties and trade unions, thus damaging their reputation and breaking – in the most disgraceful and inflammatory way – every rule of morality and dignity.
CELEBRATION IN MEMORY OF THE FIRST GENERAL STRIKE IN OCCUPIED EUROPE ON APRIL 14th 1942
11/4/2014

The Hellenic Post honors the first General Strike in Europe under German rule, which was initiated by the Greek post office employees on April 14th 1942.

In occupied Athens, plagued by famine, disease and death, the employees of the Central Post Office dared to defy the death penalty, which was the punishment imposed on strikers, and decided to go on strike.

“Even enslaved people can fight; and be victorious... after seven days and seven nights in the streets. A victory which will remain memorable in the years to come”.
SIGNING OF THE NEW NATIONAL GENERAL COLLECTIVE LABOR AGREEMENT
27/3/2014

The negotiations between the Greek General Workers Confederation (in Greek ΓΣΕΕ) and the legal entities representing the employers (the Federation of Greek Industries – ΣΕΒ, the General Confederation of Greek Small Businesses and Trades – ΓΣΕΒΕΕ, the Greek National Confederation of Commerce – ΕΣΕΕ and the Association of Greek Tourism Enterprises – ΣΕΤΕ), concluded yesterday, Wednesday March 26th 2014, with the signing of the new National General Collective Labor Agreement (in Greek: ΕΓΣΣΕ).

The signing of the new National General Collective Labor Agreement (ΕΓΣΣΕ), which was the product of collaboration and mutual consent from both sides, proves that the institution of collective negotiations and collaborative procedures is alive in our country, while at the same time helps secure institutions and established rights that concern the totality of the Greek labor force.

We hereby attach the full text of the new National General Collective Labor Agreement (ΕΓΣΣΕ):
